Download images

Entire image

  1. Double-click an image thumbnail to open the Image Viewer.
  2. Click Image:icon save.gif(the save icon) in the lower right corner. Image:ColumnofTrajan.png
    Please note: If you have zoomed or rotated the image but wish to save it in its entirety, clickImage:icon reset.gif(the reset icon) to restore the image to its original state.
  3. A window with Shared Shelf Common's Terms & Conditions of Use will open. Click Accept.
  4. You will be prompted to either Open or Save a zip file, which contains both the JPEG and HTML file that you are attempting to download from Shared Shelf Commons.
  5. If you are working on a PC, it is recommended you Open the zip file and then Extract the files contained within the zip file. If you are working on a Mac you will Save the zip file and in most cases, your files will automatically unzip when you click to open the file.

  1. Double-click an image thumbnail to open the Image Viewer.
  2. Zoom and pan within the image to find the detail that you would like to save.
  3. Click image:icon save.gif(the save icon) in the lower right side of the window.
  4. A window with Shared Shelf Common's Terms & Conditions of Use will open. Click Accept.
  5. You will be prompted to either Open or Save a zip file, which contains both the JPEG and HTML file that you are attempting to download from Shared Shelf Commons.
  6. If you are working on a PC, it is recommended you Open the zip file and then Extract the files contained within the zip file. If you are working on a Mac you will Save the zip file and in most cases, your files will automatically unzip when you click to open the file.

Mozilla Firefox

Within Firefox, click Save File. Locate and double-click your zip file. The file will automatically unzip to provide you with access to your JPEG and HTML files.
Please note that the zip file may download into your Downloads folder but location may vary depending on your machine’s default download location.

Safari

Google Chrome

Within Google Chrome, the downloaded file will appear in the bottom of the image viewer window. Click on the downloaded file or click on the drop-down arrow and select Open. Your file will automatically unzip. The files can be found in a separate folder within your Downloads.
Please note that location may vary depending on your machine’s default download location.

PC Examples

Mozilla Firefox

Within Firefox, you may have the option to select your preferred zip program from a drop-down menu. Select a program and click OK.

Internet Explorer

Within Internet Explorer, you can simply click on the downloaded file or click on the drop-down arrow and select Open.

Google Chrome

Safari

How to Unzip your file on a PC

Ater you click Open, your file will open in a zip program where you can unzip your file. Within your zip program, you will select the files you would like to unzip and click Extract.

Click on the drop-down arrow or the Browse button to choose a location to save your unzipped files.

You will then select a destination (i.e. Desktop) and click OK to unzip and save your files to your computer.
