From Artstor Help
If you have more than one monitor connected to your computer, OIV will automatically detect them. Thus, whenever you start a presentation, you will be prompted to decide whether or not to use all available monitors. If you do decide to use all available monitors, you will be presenting your images or slides in dual screen mode.
- You may disable the automatic detection of multiple monitors. Go to the "Edit" toolbar button and select the "Preferences..." option. (For Macs, this option is under the "ARTstor OIV" toolbar menu, and is also accessible by using the -, keyboard shortcut.) Please note that you should only change this setting if you are experiencing problems with connecting to second screen or projector. For more information, please see: User Preferences.
Dual screen Image Palette presentation
- Start the Image Palette presentation.
- A new window will open, prompting you to decide whether or not to use all available monitors. Click on the "Yes" button to proceed with the dual screen presentation.
- The first image will appear in screen #1, and the second image in the sequence will appear in screen #2. Each side will act independently, so you must use the toolbar to control each image on the two screens. The same tools and procedures for navigating the Image Palette presentation on single monitor will apply in dual screen mode. For more detailed instructions on single monitor presentations, please see: Navigating image presentations.
- Click on the "Next" toolbar icon () in screen #1, the second image in the sequence will appear in screen #1 - while screen #2 remains static. You will need to click on the "Next" icon in the toolbar in screen #2 to advance that image. In dual screen mode, the only way to shift back and forth between screens is to use the toolbar. The Tab keyboard shortcut will not allow you shift the focus between split-screen images as when presenting on a single monitor with the Image Palette presentation.
- To set up a left and right "carousel" presentation, you will need to organize the images in the Image Palette so that all of the images in the left "carousel" are in the front half, while all the images in the right "carousel" are in the back half (pictured below).
- This way, when you present in dual screen mode, you can use the "Select an image" icon () in the toolbar in screen #2 to jump to the first image in the right "carousel." From here, you can toggle back and forth between screens to bring up each image comparison. For more detailed instructions, please see: Navigating image presentations - Quick Tips.
- Since each monitor in the dual screen mode behaves independently, you can also split the screen in each monitor by using the corresponding icons in the toolbars, whether the "Split screen horizontally" icon () or the "Split screen vertically" icon () icon.
- This way, you can show one full-screen image in screen #1, while splitting the screen horizontally to show two comparative images in screen #If you split both monitors, you may display up to four different images. Each of the images, whether the monitor is split or not, will have its own toolbar that you can use to advance to another image, show data, etc.
- Click on the "Exit" toolbar icon () in either screen to close the Image Palette presentation.
- If you have split either screen, clicking on the "Exit" icon on one side will simply close that image. You will need to click on the "Exit" icon in the (now) full-screen image to close entirely out of the presentation.
