First steps...

  1. Log in to your ARTstor account.
  2. There are three ways to access your profile to manage your user preferences:
  3. From the Welcome Page, go to the My ARTstor area on the right side of the page. Click My profile.

    OR

    In the upper right corner of the page, the Log In area will display a welcome message and your email address. Click Edit my profile.

    OR

    Go to the ARTstor navigation menu and click Tools > Preferences.
  4. A new window will open, which you can use to edit the following user preferences:

Change email address

  1. In the "Preferences" window, click the "My Profile" tab.
  2. Your current email address will be displayed. Enter a new email address in this field. You also have the option to enter your first and last names in this form.
  3. Click Save to save your changes.
  4. You may always come back to this form to edit your profile information.

Change password

  1. In the "Preferences" window, click the "Change Password" tab.
  2. Enter your old password.
  3. Enter your new password. Enter the new password a second time to confirm it. Please avoid using symbols (e.g., ? /\ <>+ # %) or diacritics (e.g., é å ï ñ ô) when choosing a password.
  4. Click Save.
  5. You may always come back to this form to edit your password.

Lost your password?

  1. Enter the ARTstor Digital Library.
  2. In the upper right corner of the page, you will see a Log In area. Click Forget Password?.
  3. A form will appear. Enter the email address that you used to create your ARTstor account.
  4. Click Submit. A confirmation message will appear, notifying you that your password has been sent to your email address.
  5. Check your email for a message from userservices@artstor.org, entitled "ARTstor Lost Password Request." This message will contain your password, which you can now use to log in to your ARTstor account.

Change display options

  1. In the "Preferences" window, click the "Display Options" tab.
  2. Your current preferences will be displayed.
    • Under "Thumbnail display," your may choose to view small or large thumbnails when you are viewing images.
    • Under "Image pop-up window," you may choose to open the Image Viewer at half- or full-screen.
    • Under "Automatic session time-out notification and log out protection," you may choose how long to allow your session to remain idle before ARTstor logs off automatically, whether 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes.
  3. Click the appropriate radio buttons and click Save.

Quick Tip

While you may select your default display options in the "Preferences" window, you may also change the thumbnail and Image Viewer displays at any point during your ARTstor session. Please see: Viewing thumbnails and Image Viewer - Display options.

Register for Instructor Privileges

To upgrade your ARTstor account with Instructor-Level Privileges, please see: Register for Instructor Privileges. This will enable additional features for your account, including building a Personal Collection of your own images, as well as sharing images with others at your institution.
